Do you know the story of Piglet, the Pink Puppy? Piglet was profiled in the October 28, 2019 issue of People magazine (you can read a related story here and more information on pinkpigletpuppy.org).

As People reports, Piglet — a dachshund-Chihuahua mix — was born deaf and blind in a Georgia home with 37 other puppies in a hoarding situation. Piglet was rescued and sent to a shelter; veterinarian Melissa Shapiro agreed to foster the 1-lb puppy and ended up adopting him.

When Shapiro first brought Piglet home, he had such severe separation anxiety that he ran around in circles and screamed. But in an empowering example of resilience, Piglet overcame his difficult start and now serves as a role model for patience, perseverance, and acceptance.

As Shapiro explains it, the “Piglet Mindset…[is] about facing your challenges with a positive attitude, using what you have, and not worrying about what you don’t have.” Despite his challenges, Piglet “still moves forward constantly.” What lessons might Piglet have for your own journey to resiliency and well-being?
